Pamela’s story: How did I get here?!
“Well, I’m just someone who discovered, 7 years ago, that what lights me up is helping others see what lights them up.
Slowly I’ve come to realize that my deepest ‘heart vision’ is to reflect and activate the Light in each of us — so we can see who we really are, give our gifts fully, and make the difference that we are here to make.
Following this heart vision — without even understanding it at first — led me to grow from an insecure homeschooling mom (who loved my family but felt there must be something more) into a confident, joyful, and deeply fulfilled international coach, speaker, and artist. I am SO grateful to get to do work I love with amazing clients and partners around the globe, from the comfort of home, and to see that I make a profound difference for many people. Who could ask for more?
But I never even imagined any of this was possible when I began my journey 7 years ago.
What happened? I had an inspired idea. And acted on it.
That’s all it takes to start down the ‘luminous path’ of living your own vision-powered, heart-guided life…
First, the inspired idea: after I took a powerful personal growth workshop, I went an exhibit of Byzantine art. As I was looking at an icon of a saint, an idea suddenly struck me: “Wouldn’t it be incredible to paint portraits of ordinary people like this, pictures that show their divine essence — icons for the 21st century that show who we’re ALL capable of being?”
Well, this idea certainly inspired me… AND scared me. I’m not an artist! Who do I think I am?! (Like many people, I loved to draw and paint as a child, but I hadn’t touched a paint brush in over 20 years.)
My idea could have died there.
But because I felt SO inspired, I found the courage to go out and buy paints and supplies and turn part of our bedroom into an art studio. And as I interviewed my first subject, and began painting the first “Possibility Portrait,” I rediscovered a delight and purposefulness I last remembered as young teen, counseling friends and drawing over my schoolwork. So THIS is what I was meant to do!
What does it take to continue down that ‘luminous path’ to fulfill your deepest dreams?
It’s simple (but not easy ;-p): you must continue to follow your heart vision by allowing yourself to RECEIVE inspiration and ACT on it.
As I did this myself, amazing resources and opportunities (plus the challenges I needed to grow) kept presenting themselves, each at the right time:
* first, a Possibility Portrait subject said to me, “I don’t know how much I can pay for this…” I thought: “Wait a minute, I could get PAID to do this?!” Started my
first business, Inner Vision Portraits. NO idea was I was in for. (I was an English and Philosophy major…);
* attracted the perfect mentors to help me — my first coach (thanks Sigrid!) and first business mentor (thanks Sue!);
* created and led many vision board workshops (didn’t know they were called that — just wanted to help people make their own Possibility Portraits) — was invited to lead workshops at festivals, colleges, businesses, special events, even a hospital;
* took a leadership training course. People started asking me to coach them. They even paid me while I learned! I went from “who, ME?!” to claiming it: “Hey, I’m a good coach!”;
* out of the blue, invited to be featured in a book that became a #1 mysticism best-seller (thanks Joyce!);
* discovered the “7 Secrets to Grow Your Dreams into Reality” when I interviewed past workshop graduates (some had manifested everything on their vision boards, others weren’t successful — the successful ones intuitively used all 7 Secrets). “I’ve been doing this myself! And I have to teach this to people!”
* invested in high-level year-long business mentoring program — very scary to make the investment but I learned a ton, worked really hard, almost gave up, grew in leaps and bounds. Connected with many heart-centered entrepreneurs who became my teachers, clients, joint venture partners, and life-long friends;
* designed a curriculum to teach the 7 Secrets and help people who want to make a difference grow their dreams into reality. Started leading transformational coaching programs with participants across the USA, and then around the world;
